What is a Move-Out Inspection?
A move-out inspection is performed when a tenant vacates a property. It is compared to the move-in inspection to identify tenant-caused damage, and is used to determine security-deposit deductions.
Process
- Inspect the property using the same template as the move-in
- Compare to the move-in record (side-by-side photos)
- Document any new damage
- Calculate repair / replacement costs
- Sign by landlord and tenant
- Return the deposit (less lawful deductions) within the legal timeframe
